CLAMSHELL BOX

Boxes are so much fun to make and you can customise them for just the right gift.  I love discovering new ones to try and this little cutie was taught by Danille Daws at Ustamp.  I love that it wraps around itself, eliminating the need for wraping paper!

It is called a Clamshell Box and is so easy to make! I have used Velcro dots to close this one, but you could use magnetic domes or ribbon to really fress it up.

Ustamp with Dawn and Friends has so many wonderful tutorials to try.  Forty, to be exact, from designers all around the world.  Early Bird registration is now open, so why not join us for the next round?  Click HERE to sign up today!

LOOK WHAT I GOT!! (RAK)

Do you love your postman as much as me??  Every now and again he decides to deliver something that isn't a bill!!  A coulpe of weeks ago, I went to the mail box and pulled out this beauty!

It was sent to me from Danielle Daws, co-creator of Just Add Ink.  I can't tell you how thrilled I was to get this little beauty in the post.  I am a huge admirer of Danielle's work.  She has the most amazing design ability and her colour combinations are fantastic.  As a Watercolour artist however, she simply blows my socks off!  If you would like to see more of Danielle's work then pay her a visit HERE and say hello!

Thank you so much Danielle - you made my day ♥

GUEST ARTIST - LESLEE HOLSTON

Over the past 6 months or so, I have had the pleasure of getting to know a lovely Lady in Virgina, USA, by the name of Leslee Holston.  She is a fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and passionate card maker.  I fell in love with Leslee's work - she just can't make a bad ANYTHING!!  So, I asked Leslee if she would allow me to feature a peek of her work for you all to enjoy too.  Lucky for me, she said YES!!

She recently designed and made invitations, cards and favours for her neice's Baby Shower.

How cute is this invitation!

The party favors are all made with the Mini Milk Carton die.

Leslee has used the Baby Bundle set on all and kept the color scheme, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette and Certainly Celery, throughout the project.

Now Leslee has told me she has also made a Diaper Cake, which she will be blogging herself very soon.  I can't wait to see it and you can too, when you visit Leslee's Blog:    http://www.les4inspiration.blogspot.com

WGTN REGIONALS & SNEAK PEEK

Well, I had an exciting weekend!  My team and I joined fellow Demonstrators from throughout the Wellington regional (and a couple from beyond - Hi Anita!) for the Stampin' Up! Regionals last Saturday.  What a day!  We had Business training, Makes & Takes and plenty of fellowship.  I came away absolutely buzzing.  I also got to share in some fabulous swaps from the other Demonstrators.  I thought I would share the two I made.

The first is a Brayed card, which I also got to demonstrate when I presented a WOW.  What a thrill that was, although I don't really remember much of what I said.  I hope I made at least a bit of sense.  Nerves do that to me, lol.  This was my prototype though, which I managed to drop my ink pad on!!!  Luckily, the way it landed, it just looks like part of the grass, so I have kept this one for myself :-)

The second is a sneak peek of a new Stamp Set coming with our Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue that goes live on the first of April.  I LOVE chocolate (who doesn't!) and just had to make a swap with this set!!   If you would like to see this set in person, then you might want to consider a workshop, so you can have a play with it too!!  Email me to book your workshop in April!!

PENDANT PARK SYMPATHY

I recently held a Brayer Class and decided to do a couple of Sympathy Cards.  Unfortunately, I have needed a couple recently, and just didn't have any on hand.  I certainly wasn't in the right frame of mind to make any either.  So decided to put my class to good use and have the Ladies make a couple they could put away for just these sad occassions.

I have used the stamp set Pendant Park for this card.  I have had this stamp set for a while and not used it.  Combine Pendant Park and a Brayer and it makes for a relatively quick scenery card.  Pendant Park also comes with a lovely border stamp and I used this as a highlight on the inside of the card.

The colours I chose to use for this card where simple:  Always Artichoke and Marina Mist, with just a hint of Basic Black.  I was careful not to make the colours too somber.  I also chose to put the sentiment on the inside, not the outside.  I wanted the artwork to speak for itself.

I "framed" the card very simply with just one photo corner punch.  If you would like to know how I did this card, the turorial is available for purchase.  Just visit my "Tutorials for Sale" page at the top of this blog for more details.

PUNCH ART SNEAK PEEK

With Easter coming up next month, I thought it would be fun to do a Punch Art Class.  I don't normally dabble in this type of work, but now that I have, I can see I am going to have to add to my Punch Collection.  These projects are so cool!

I thought I would tease you all with a couple of sneak peeks of the projects I will be teaching on the 26th of March.  See my Classes Page at the top of my blog for more information.

A MORNING WITHOUT TEA........

Is like Sleep!!  I certainly can't start my mornings without a Cuppa!  Know anyone like that yourself?  Then make a little "pick me up" to send them, so they can start their day out the RIGHT way too.  It is such a nice way of saying "I am thinking about YOU!"

I recently made these little "Folder Holders" with coffee bags inside, but not everyone likes Coffee!  I love having little giveaways on hand, so made a few up in different colours.  I also paper pieced each Teapot to coordinate with the cardstock I used on the folders.  Stampin' Up! also have the most luscious range of Rhinestone Brads in coordinating colours ($23.95 for approx 80), and I used these to hold everything together and adhere the tag.

So, who could you send one of these cute little gifts to?..............

If you would like some Rhinestone Brads for your projects, contact ME to place you order today!

WEDDING CAKE!

Do you have stamp sets that you have bought, that just haven't seen ink for a while?  I have a set that has been gathering dust called Fun & Fast Notes, that I always overlook.  I pulled it out the other day, gave it a good dust off, and came up with this wee card - perfect for a Wedding!  Not your ususal soft fluffy Wedding card, I know - but I still like it!

I like doing things with colour combinations you wouldn't think to put together.  I have also kept this really simple, so the watercolouring can speak for itself.  I must remember to use this set more often because there is a stamp for almost every occassion included!

Stamps:  Fun & Fast Notes
Card Stock: Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, Watercolour Paper
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Rose Red, Crumb Cake

JAI #59 - A sketch for you!

This weeks challenge at JUST ADD INK is a sketch!

The challenge for me was how to make a relatively simple sketch just that little bit more interesting.  So I thought I would try a technique I have seen around but never actually had a go at myself - Mosaic or "Stained Glass".

With Easter coming up and a Craft Fair to prepare for, I thought I would get a start on my Easter Cards, and what better way to use this technique, than by imitating a Church window?  The actual Mosaic panel was really easy to create and I love it.  The challenge for me was how to incorporate all the elements of the sketch.  I am not completely happy with the background, so may have to fiddle with that on the next Mosaic Card I do :-)

To recreate this technique yourself:-
Save all the rubber "bits" from your wood mount stamp sets.  Cut into random peices and adhere in a mosaic pattern to a spare wood block.  You have now created your own "Mosaic" background stamp!
Colour your card stock as you want it, ink your Mosaic background stamp in Versamark and stamp on top of your coloured card stock.  Heat set with clear embossing powder.  Sponge or Brayer a dark colour over the top of your embossed images and gently wipe off the excess with a clean, soft tissue.  Done!!

I hope you will join in this fun challenge and pop on over to the Just Add Ink site to see the wonderful submisions there from the Design Team!!  I also challenge you to try a technique on your entry you haven't done before - dare you!

WEDDING BLISS

Did you know during Sale-A-Bration, you can earn FREE stamp sets?  Simpy spend $120.00 or hold a qualifying workshop and you can choose from four stamp sets!  How cool is that?  To take advantage of this special offer, just contact me!  This offer expies on the 31st of March, so don't miss out.

I have used the beautiful BLISS set on this Wedding themed card.  Teamed with Whisper White, Night of Navy and Baja Breeze, this has turned out so elegant!  You could also make this an Anniversary card too.

I have also carried over the goreous stamping on the inside.  I really like adding a card inner to my cards.  It just lifts them up a notch and adds to the overall presentation.  What do you think?

JUST ADD INK #58

This weeks challenge is extra special because the DT have gone all out to say a sad farewell to Amanda and Danielle, the co-founders of Just Add Ink.

The challenge this week is to ... Just Add Amanda or Danielle.

It's all about CASEing their gorgeous work!  I had the hardest time trying to decide which of their peices to CASE, as I am a huge fan of both of them.  Their designs always inspire me.  So this is what I cam up with:

It is so sad to see the creators of such a fabulous Design site step down.  But I know we haven't seen the last of either Amanda or Danielle!  I certainly hope they will continue join in our challenges as time allows.  The helm of Just Add Ink has been taken over by Delys Cram and Bron Eastley.  I hope you will show your support by joining in this challenge!

To see the original artwork that inspired these CASE's, please click on Danielle or Amanda's name to have a look.  I have kept very true to their original pieces - why change a good thing?!!

My very best wishes go to you both for whatever lies in your Future.  Thank you both so much for the wonderful opportunity you gave me when I joined JUST ADD INK

YOU DA BOMB!

That is probably a really old fashion term now!  I can't keep up with the slang terms like I used to, lol

But I do like boxes of any shape or size, especially ones I can recreate myself.  This little beaty is by Kirsten Brown.  Kirsten loves boxes too and she has two gorgeous examples on the current round of Ustamp with Dawn and Friends - Oh My Word.  This is one of them:

I decided to add an insert to create a nice colour contrast.  This little box is so cool.  I have never made a round box before and it fits a Bath Bomb beautifully!

I stuffed it full of lilac packaging just to make it even more pretty!

I think this makes the sweetest little gift box.  I can't wait to make a few more in other colours, just to see what they look like, lol

The next round of Ustamp starts soon and you seriously do not want to miss this one.  For more information read on!
