BEST DRESSED BABY

One type of card I seemed to always be short of, is baby cards, and to be honest, I don't have much in the way of Baby themed stamps and papers etc.  I set myself a challenge to make a simple baby card using the Jumbo Wheel stamp "Baby Tees", since it really is the only decent sized baby image I have.  But I didn't want a string of images.

So what did I do?  I paper pieced it instead!  I inked and stamped my wheel across a gender neutral DSP, actually, it is the same DSP in the background, called Nursery Nest.  Then I simply applied shadows to the Onsie with markers and cut out.  I adhered this piece to the front of my card with dimensionals to pop it up off the card base.  Then I inked my sentiment stamp from "Word Play" using markers to achieve the two toned colours.  I then decided to round just the top right hand corner of my card, for a little bit of interest on an otherwise clean and simple card.

EASTER BONNET

Do you have a little collection of empty Stampin' Up! Brad and Button cases?  I do!  What to do with them, besides throwing them away?  Make a Hostes Gift with them, of course!  I have seen a few of these little cuties done by other demos, and needed a cool little gift to give my Hostess last Saturday.

So I started by pulling out one empty container, the SAB Every Day Enchantment DSP, some 5/8" Satin Ribbon and SAB ribbon.  Proceeded to roll some gorgeous wee rosses for the front of the hat, and this is what I ended up with!

I put in a length of ribbon and some buttons and coordinating brads for my Hostess.  I also demonstrated two wee note cards, with envelopes, to match - making a really sweet little gift as my "thank you" to Peg for having her workshop.

If you would like to play with some of the gorgeous Sale-A-Bration product and get a Thank you gift from me like this - then book a workshop with ME before the end of March!

10 MINUTE WEDDING TUTORIAL

I don't think any wedding has ever been done in under ten minutes, but I know this card was!  I tried a new technique (to me anyway) on this one - Faux tearing.  The strip through the middle of the card looks like Designer Paper, but it's not!  Here is how I achieved this look:

1.  Tear a piece of A4 paper in half.
2.  Adhere the two halves, slightly apart on your Whisper White card front with dotto.  This will help it stay in place but remove it easily later.
3.  Gently sponged Crumb Cake ink in the gap of the paper.
4.  Stamped flourish from Creative Elements in Early Espresso Ink directly over the sponged ink, then removed torn paper halves.
5.  Die cut "Mr & Mrs" using the Timeless Type Medium Sizzlet Die and big shot, in Eary Espresso cardstock.
6.  Adhere the "Mr & Mrs" to the card front using Tombow Multi Adhesive.
7.  Adhere this piece to a slightly larger Early Espresso Mat.
8.  Adhere mat to Crumb Cake card base - done!

Of course, you could always take it a step ot two further by adding some bling to the card front or even Crystal Effects to the letters to really make them glossy.

Hope you enjoyed my ten minute tutorial too!  Totally unplanned, but hey, it's all about sharing the love of the craft!

CRAFTY DAISIES

I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for two and half years (time flies) and there are still some products I haven't ticked off my wishlist yet!  While Sale-a-bration (SAB) is on, I took advantage of the FREE product on purchases of $120 (not including shipping) and bought myself the set of Watercolour Pencils.  The only question I have is, WHY did I wait so long to get this amazing product?!!

I have seen a lot of cards recently down on Craft (Crumb Cake) cardstock with other branded pencils and I wondered how the Stampin' Up! pencils would compare.  Well, take a look and tell me what YOU think.  Myself, I LOVE them!!

I simply repeatedly stamped and masked the flower from the Every Moment stamp set in black Staz On.  Then using the Watercolour Pencils, coloured in the images, building colour from lightest to darkest as I went.  I am thrilled with how this has turned out!  This wee beauty is going in my card stash for my MIL's birthday.  Her favourite colours are Green and Yellow.  Perfect.

So, if you still have quite a wishlist going on too, take advantage of SAB.  Get something new, try new techniques, and grab a few FREEBIES while you are at it!  Contact ME for your order today!

WHEN IS A CARD NOT A CARD?

When it is also a gift box!  I have seen these cute little cards around for sometime now and have always wanted to have a go at making one.  Finally, here it is!!

I love that you can include a little gift with the card for the recipient.  I have put Jaffa's in this one.  The peson who is getting this is a chocoholic!!

I have taken advantage of the SAB designer paper, Everyday Enchantment, which you can select as your FREE gift during Sale-A-Bration, when you spend $120 (not including shipping).  The DSP has a real vintage look about it.  I have teamed up an SAB brad with a giant button from the current Summer Mini catalogue too, which I think looks classy atop the ruffled lace.

I have also used another SAB freebie, the stamp set Fresh Vintage.  I love how all the SAB choices mix and match.  A little bit of sponging to age the Very Vanilla cardstock and I was done!

SAB runs until the end of March, so if you haven't taken advantage of all the freebies on offer, why not place your order with me?  Contact ME NOW!

IN A RUSH?

A bullrush to be exact!  I had to share this wee beauty with you.  It was one of those cards that just "happened".  Absolutely no mistakes along the way either!  I was really inspired by a card of Kerry Bunting's and sat down to recreate it.  But sometimes these things have a life of their own, as this one did!

I decided to sponge, not brayer, and added some hills and a moon.  Inked up the grasses from "Inspired by Nature" in Cajun Craze and then added low lights with an Early Espresso marker before stamping.  At this point I started debating about adding the bird, and opted to turn the grass into bullrush's instead.  I have used a pretty unusual colour combo of Cajun Craze, Early Espresso with a splash of Baja Breeze, but I love how they all look toghether.

I had to do the inside of this one too, simply because I liked the front so much and wanted to really step up the card and make it something extra special.

So thanks Kerry!!  It may look nothing like your beautiful card, but you were definitely the starting point.

SOFT SUEDE SAB CARD

I am loving the FREE choices from the SAB catalogue when you spend $120 (not including shipping)!!  I especially love the Ribbon and Brad Pack.  These ribbons are so thin and colourful, there is no end to what you can use them for!

I wanted to make a really feminine embellishment for this card and the ribbons and brad really make the card "pop".  I have teamed them up with the Fresh Vintage and My Friend stamp sets.  I coloured the Fresh Vintage flower image with my Stampin' Write makers, using the same colours in the ribbon, Lucky Limeade and Calypso Coral.  I also stamped the same image on my card base, going for a tone on tone look in Soft Suede.

What a nice way to say "hi" to a friend!

REAPING THE BENEFITS OF SAB

Don't you just love the Sale-a-bration period with Stampin' Up!?  I do, and I just recieved my first order with brand new goodies to play with!  Check for more details on my Specials and Promotions page, so you can enjoy the FREE benefits too!

It didn't take me long to break out my cardstock and start creating with these gorgeous new products!  These are cards I have planned for upcoming workshops, so if you would like to make one of these too, be sure to book a workshop with me.  Simply drop me an email!!  It's that easy.  Invite a few friends and leave the rest to me.

One of the things I love about the SAB choices this year is that the colours coordinate with products already available.  Here I have used the Everyday Enchantment DSP (SAB) with the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad Pack (SAB).  You can chooseone of these products packs absolutely FREE with a $120 order (not including shipping).  It all works so well with the new In Colours, Lucky Limeade and Pool Party.

This delight is using the same DSP, and ribbon (you get two colours in the bundle) but with a FREEbie stamp set "Fresh Vintage".  I have threaded the ribbon through the strip of DSP, which gives it a nice lacey effect.  I totally love the border stamp from Fresh Vintage (SAB), which I have stamped along the bottom of the card in Pool Party.  The flower image is stamped in Calypso Coral and punched using the new Postage Punch - yum!

I have shown you three of the gorgeous choices from this beautiful catalogue, but there are still three more stamp sets available I haven't shown you yet!  If you haven't seen the SAB catalogue - don't miss out.  Simply click on the image to go check out your own copy!  Or better yet, book your workshop with me and get your own copy FREE.

A TASTE OF THE ORIENT

This is going away from my normal artwork!  I have used a retired stamp called "Easter Blossoms" for this card.  I love the blossom branch image.  I have used my Stampin' Write Markers to colour directly onto the stamp.  I have then spritzed water lightly onto the inked stamp before stamping on Whisper White card stock.  The effect is quite something.  Some of the image remains clean and sharp and some of the image blurs and runs.

It gives the card a dreamy quality, which I really like.  Another reitred stamp was used for the sentiment, Symbols of Solicitude, giving the card a lovely oriental feel.
