MOVING HOUSE!

We are moving!  It's exciting and kinda sad, all at the same time.  We have had eleven wonderful years in the house the Dobbo's built, but it is time to move on to other things.  We aren't moving very far though, practically around the corner.  It will be strange driving past the place I have called home for so long and see someone else living here!
I had to make a card to welcome the new family into their new home.  I will be leaving this on the bench top for them when they arrive.  I hope they will be as happy here as we have been.

So, please forgive me, I will not be back for a week or two.  There is so much to do!

Please don't go anywhere though - I appreciate each and every one of my followers and visitors.  It is YOU that I design and blog for!  See you soon *mwah*

ODE TO EDMONDS

It is funny where we can gain inspiration from for our artwork.  I have had a collectors tin in my kitchen for a few years and every time I look at it, I knew I wanted to recreate the background somehow.  I finally sat down a couple of weeks ago and put sponge to paper.  This is the tin I used for inspiration (brand name edited):

I wanted a dramatic card so decided to use another favourite stamp set for the foreground, Forever Young, and dark colours in the foreground, making my background the feature.  This card came together surprisingly quickly and it turned out even better than I had seen it in my head!

I love the addition of the tag across the base, it helps to break up the large expanse of Chocolate Chip Ink. The bright blingy brad adds a bit of elegance!  To be honest, this photo really doesn't do the original justice.  I think it is one of the best cards I have made.  This one I have to keep!

KISS FOR A SWEET FRIEND

While studying at Pinterest, I mean ogling at Pinterest, I came across a super sweet idea for a card, which you can see HERE.  I went for Clean and Simple, but BIG!  Who doesn't like a lot of chocolate, after all!  I think the punch art Hersey's Kiss is really cute!

I used the Builder Blossom punch and Glitter paper to punch out the largest petal.  Then I reinserted the petal's edge into an oval punch to create the slightly curved bottom of the kiss.  Pop up on a dimensional, add a tag and you are done.  Super quick and super easy.

Since the front of the card is minimilist, I added a bit more of "wow" on the inside too.  I can see I will have to make a stack of these little cuties for my market.  A sweet card to gift to a friend for any occassion!

BIRTHDAY TIN

Another altered tin for my SIL's Birthday this time.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIANNE!  This tin presented a bit of a challenge, in that the colours around the top were orange, blue and green!  What a combination!  It was the very last tin I had  to alter, for that reason.  However, luckily for me, the SAB designer paper, Everyday Enchantment, has those exact colours in it!!

The DSP also worked really well with the montage of stamps I chose to do on this tin.  I finally had an excuse to pull out the crochet trim too, which I pleated.

I am really pleased with how this rather colour challenged tin actually turned out.  I hope Dianne likes it too.  I have also filled the tin with lots of cards for different occasions, so she has a years supply of handmade cards to go with it!

I am off to Rotorua today to spend a weekend with 50 other SU demonstrators at Stamp Camp.  I have been looking forward to this weekend for quite some time now!  I look forward to bringing you some fab photo's of my weekend away when I get back.

AUTUMN IS HERE

Autumn has arrived, but then, we really didn't have much of a summer!  The colours I have used in this card have a definite cool feel to them.  Quite appropriate for the way the weather has turned!

I haven't used my Bryaer in a while, so it was time to pull it out again and have another play.  My last use of the brayer was a bit of a distaster and you can read all about that HERE.  I am happy to say this one turned out beautifully this time!
I keep meaning to photograph the process for you so you can see how I achieved the scene, but I always forget to pull out the camera!  I hope to bring you a tutorial soon.

I have also decorated the inside of this card.  I always do that on cards I am pleased with! The list of colours and product I have used for this are:

Stamps:  Simply Soft, Word Play
Inks:  Marina Mist, Pool Party, River Rock, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive (marker)
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Pool Party
Accessories:  Post-it-notes (for masking), Brayer, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Dimensionals

HAPPY 60TH!

I am off to a wee celebration tonight for my Boss, who is tunring 60.  I wanted to make him a card, but it had to be very masculine (there is not a feminine bone in his body!!), so no ribbons or bling of any kind!  It was a challenge, but here is what I came up with:

You can't go past wood and nails for a man, huh?  Besides the fact, he used to enjoy wood turning!  So I feel I have managed to capture my Boss on a card with this one.  What do you think?
